I am so damn furtive about everything. If I have a plan that takes a couple weeks to be actualized, I kind of cut off communications with people until it’s all finalized and I can be like, “Surprise!!!!” I’m starting to annoy myself. With my stupid consuming work schedule I keep to myself enough as it is. I don’t need any more damn impositions on myself; I don’t need any more reasons to be all secretive or hide my shit. I do that enough at my wank-ass job.

I was super-secretive when I combed out my dreads, and now I’m doing it again since I’ve decided that I want to have natural (neglect, patience, etc) dreads. Maybe I do these things because I doubt my own conviction and I want to wait it out. Maybe my fear of being judged is just out of control right now. I’m not sure.

Anyway, I haven’t brushed my hair in 8 days ***crazy progress wow*** and I’ve been washing with baking soda or Dr. Bronner’s. I guess I just wanted to wait until I had something to show for my effort, like “See I’m serious!” I’m just so tired of hiding my shit. No one cares much anyway.

If grandmothers around the world had a rallying cry, it would probably sound something like “You need to eat!”

Photographer Gabriele Galimberti’s grandmother said something similar to him before one of his many globetrotting work trips. To ensure he had at least one good meal, she prepared for him a dish of ravioli before he departed on one of his adventures.

“In that occasion I said to my grandma ‘You know, Grandma, there are many other grandmas around the world and most of them are really good cooks,” Galimberti wrote via email. “I’m going to meet them and ask them to cook for me so I can show you that you don’t have to be worried for me and the food that I will eat!’ This is the way my project was born!”

The project, “Delicatessen With Love”, took Galimberti to 58 countries where he photographed grandmothers with both the ingredients and finished signature dishes.

He acted as photographer and stylist during each shoot with the grandmothers, taking a portrait of both the women and the food they made for him.

Julia Enaigua, 71, La Paz, Bolivia. Queso Humacha (vegetables and fresh cheese soup).

Fifi Makhmer, 62, Cairo, Egypt. Kuoshry (pasta, rice and legumes pie).

Isolina Perez De Vargas, 83, Mendoza, Argentina. Asado criollo (mixed meats barbecue).

Bisrat Melake, 60, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Enjera with curry and vegetables.

Awesome show last night; I haven’t been coming out much, and it was great to spend time at such a fucking fun show with folks I like. Cheap Art from Atlanta was amazing, I loved all the local bands’ sets, and Rat Patrol came out in force, which really helped the show. And I got to see Richard! When I got kicked out of my house when I was 19, he and a friend Joey said they would be my dads. Love ya Dad. Also got to see my brother (actual brother, haha) Linkous for a bit, which is always great. I got to see a lot of people I love spending time with.

Then I went over to K6, Daniel and Trey’s place that I’d never been to. But I was pretty damn wasty, and so like a wasty bum I immediately passed out on the couch. A great night all in all, though.

Also: my neck and shoulders have been way more stiff than usual today, and I was like, what the hell happened? Then I remembered- ah yes, bang-over.
